I’m a cleaning whizz and discovered a 30p trick that got all my dirty silver jewellery looking brand new in minutes

SILVER jewellery can look so chic and timeless, but it can also show dirt and grime quicker than other styles.

But there’s no need to fork out your hard earned cash to get it professionally cleaned, as lifestyle guru Cecily (@cecilyonpoint) explained.

The cleaning whizz shared how she gets her tarnished sterling silver shining with a simple 30p trick at home.

In fact, you’ve probably got everything you need to this trick in your cupboards already, making it a total breeze.

Start with a heat-proof bowl and line it with tinfoil before adding all the jewellery you want to clean on top.

There’s no need to do it piece by piece, since it will work just as well done together.

Then just cover the dirty jewellery with baking soda followed by hot water.

Cecily said: “Seal the foil so the soda can do it’s job and have an extra bowl on the side for rinsing.”

After a few minutes the built-up gunk and grime had completely lifted from the rings, necklaces, earrings and bracelets.

“In about 10 minutes, you can peek at it to see if it needs more time, but usually that’s a sufficient time frame,” the pro said.

Everything was so shiny you’d almost never believe how dirty and dull it all looked minutes ago.

“No brush needed, rinse and use a soft cloth to buff,” the cleaning whizz added.

Other Instagram users couldn’t wait to try the cheap hack out on their own jewellery.
