Madison Avenue Store Opening Bringing Luxury Tailoring to Women’s Wear

New York, New York–(Newsfile Corp. – August 9, 2022) – Kiton welcomes a new store opening at Madison Avenue. The Naples-based luxury tailoring brand Kiton, named after chitone, a ceremonial garment worn by ancient Greek aristocracy, will be opening a women’s wear and men’s sportswear focused store on Madison Avenue this summer.

The store located at East 62nd Street will span over two-floors and 1,700 square feet. The new store will be more focused on women’s wear that will make up 70% of stock and the other 30% will be men’s sportswear. Kiton , which has long been known as one of the highest quality tailoring brands in the world will feel right at home on Madison Avenue, famous for its luxury clothing and jewellery brands.

While having a considerable reputation for their exquisite menswear, Maria Giovanna Paone works towards extending the same recognition to Kiton’s hand tailored women’s wear. Kiton has been shifting more focus onto their women’s wear line since 2015, which now accounts for 20% of overall sales. Increasing from 5% at the start of the pandemic.

A distinguishing factor for Kiton’s women’s wear garments is the use of men’s luxury fabrics redesigned and tailored for women’s silhouettes. The luxury jacket and pants fabric is the same in men’s and women’s clothing, and the silk from men’s ties are used to make women’s blouses. Kiton’s women’s wear collection boasts a complete range of shirts, coats, blouses, jackets and even jeans.

Maria Giovanna Paone, president and women’s creative director for Kiton, has the goal to increase women’s wear to 50% of total sales. While having their own boutiques, Kiton’s women’s wear collection is also sold at stores such as Neiman Marcus, Wilkes-Bashford and Richards in Greenwich, Conn.

The woman who has made this possible, Maria Giovanna Paone, introduced Kiton’s first women’s wear line in 1995. Paone has designed each women’s wear line in alignment with her own multitasking life, and takes special care to create clothing that allows for multitasking while exuding elegance.

Maria Giovanna Paone is the daughter of the company’s founder, Ciro Paone, a fifth generation fabric merchant who launched Kiton in 1958 and, who has since Ciro’s death in 2021, become the president of Kiton.
