STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Featured in this week’s Best Dressed are throwback photos from Josephine Worrell’s 76th birthday, which unfolded in grand style on August 28, 2021. The milestone party was originally slated to toast Mrs. Worrell’s 75th birthday, but was cancelled and rescheduled numerous times due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Mrs. Worrell was born on April 8, 1945 in Burke County, Georgia. Today, she calls Mariners Harbor home and serves as Deacon at Fellowship Baptist Church. Mrs. Worrell is also President of the Missionaries and Culinary Ministry on Staten Island.
Mrs. Worrell’s diamond birthday soiree, themed “Queendom Celebration,” was held at the Grand Banquet Hall in Linden, N.J. and thrown by her three children: Her son, Troy McCray, who lives in North Carolina, daughter Jennifer Worrell, who lives in Mariners Harbor, and daughter Tanya Johnson, who lives in Port Richmond.
“Thank God for my amazing children, family, and friends for showering me with so much love,” said Mrs. Worrell upon reflecting on her party. “I felt like a queen on top of the highest mountain. I never felt so much love.”
